Will you be taking the SAT as well? And your GPA includes freshman year grades, right (Cal Poly includes them)?

I would say you have a shot, based on the Naviance information for my son's high school. There were a couple of students who were accepted with ACTs of 27 and GPAs around 3.4/3.5. However, one was rejected with a 30 ACT and 3.4 GPA.

Most students submit their SAT scores. Cal Poly discards the writing and uses the 1600 scale. I think a comparable SAT would be around 1150. The acceptance rates in Naviance in that range aren't as high, with most students with 3.5 GPAs or less being rejected.

Cal Poly is difficult to get into, but your major might help, as will ED. You've got great EC hours too.

    Good luck!

    Unfortunately, I did worse on SAT(think 1500's, or 1000 M+V).
On the website, it was clearly stated that the ACT is prefered at Cal Poly.

And one last thing, my mind still changes between engineering(industrial) and pre-med(nutrition), so would be chances be lower if I applied to industrial engineering? I heard industrial engineering is somewhat easier to get into the college of engineering compared to the other engineering majors.

This probably wont make much of a difference but what if I lived in the same area code as SLO? (805). Will it help me in anyway?

It would help you substantially if you are within the San Luis Obispo County. You would have an excellent shot, otherwise you are honestly not going to be accepted next year for nutrition even if you do early decision. To be completely honest with your stats you most likely will not be accepted for any major at Cal Poly. This next year Cal Poly is going to be forced to accept fewer in-state students due to the huge financial instability. The CSU system is actually contemplating closing down two campus' to compensate for the lack of budget. With a 3.4 weighted you are huge reach to get into Poly.

If you want in, try early decision for the least desirable major, such as diary science, you still may easily be denied tho.. In my opinion you should major in what you want to do and go to a place like Cal Poly Pomona, UCR, UCM, or Sonoma State.

Good Luck, and I hope you prove me wrong by getting accepted

I really believe you may be a good candidate; or I got lucky? I only took two AP courses in high school which were Calculus A/B and Statistics. Got an A in both of them. Unfortunately, I'm really bad at taking the SAT/ACT's but....I got accepted (Regular decision) and will be attending Cal Poly this fall!
    My stats:
    1) 3.2 Cal Poly GPA
    2) Highest ACT: Composite=23, English=17, Math=29, Reading=23, Science=21.
    Highest SAT: Total=1640, Reading=490, Math=630, English=520
    3) Major is Computer Engineering
    4) Wrestling 2 years, Football 2 years.
    5) 170 hours of community service

Well yeah, my stats suck, but yours are better! So more chance for you! So my opinion is that you "may" get in; your scores seem high to me, because your scores are what I dream of having! I hope you get in, you seem to want to go to Cal Poly reallllllly bad! Haha. Good luck!
