Yeah. The main door into the apartment has a card-key lock, while each door was an "old fashion" key.

also was just wondering about the internet connection in the room. is the just one jack to connect to? and it says we need to bring our own twisted pair network cable, is this just like an ethernet cable?

Yeah you just need to bring an ethernet cord. There is one place to connect it in each bedroom as well as one in the living room (so if you want you can go online while you watch tv or something lol!). And about the earlier thing with the lock, the bedrooms also have a deadbolt lock on the door which is simple to lock from the inside, but can also be locked from the outside if you turn your key to lock it. This way your stuff with be even safer in your room because the rooms are pretty easy to break into if they are not deadbolted.

I'm going with about a 6 foot Ethernet cable, because that's what i had around the house.
Ebay is a great place to buy them, along with amazon and fry's if you have one.
Don't buy at best buy or the likewise.

You can get a reasonably priced ethernet cable at Fry's (I got different colors to indicate different lengths) or the bookstore will have them at move-in. Does not have to be the expensive kind. For size, at least 24-25 ft. long for flexibility. Sometimes your desk & computer might be 4 feet from the outlet but you might have your desk on the opposite side of the outlet (this year or some year), you might use your laptop on your bed, you might need a longer cable for the livingroom, etc.

In past posts, I've said my son could use the internet on two computers in his bedroom but that was incorrect. In the past, he could both wifi & use the ethernet cable in the dorm room, but last year there was no wifi in Cerro. Even though there were two ethernet plugs per room, only one plug worked, so you only need one ethernet cable in your room. My mistake.
