When is a UC admittee made aware of whether they have been classified as a resident?

My nightmare: It is May 1 and I have already submitted my SIR when I am informed that I have not been classified as a resident for tuition purposes.

I have always lived and studied in-state, and have been classified as a resident at CSU. I don't expect to encounter a problem in the registration process, but I have read stories about people having issues on the blogosphere. Just in case I am not classified as a resident, I hope I would have enough time to enroll at CSU. If I submit my SIR early, could I know my classification early? Are my worries unfounded?

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide!
