chance me for UC Davis? (I'm a transfer student)

Hey guys. I really wanna go to Davis, but I'm a transfer student and I wanna throw that out since most of these forums are regarding high school students...here are my stats:

GPA: 3.06 (kinda iffy, I know...)
Major: Design (concentration in Visual Communication)
No TAG or IGETC, but will complete all the pre reqs (and whatever pre reqs not articulated at my CC and Davis, I will take over there)
ECs: writer/editor/designer for high school and college newspapers, worked part time at the Mac computer lab for graphic communication students, Campus Crusade for Christ Leadership, college cheer team
Essay: wrote how I switched from journalism to graphic design and my experiences in the newspapers and working at the lab, and my 2nd one was about trying out for the college cheer team twice and making it the 2nd time, which taught me perseverance.

I also heard from somewhere that Davis will accept most, if not all transfer students with a 2.8 or better, is that true? I would hope so cuz I feel borderline (though most people I ask tell me I have a good chance...MAN I wish it was April already!!!)

I'm on the same boat, I'm going for an Human Development major, but my GPA is a 3.2 :/ I think you have a pretty good chance since alot of my friends that are transferring have even lower GPAs then me and the average GPA for a tag program is a 3.0. So its pretty much higher then the usual average.Plus your going for a design major which would probably have less people applying compared to chemistry or biology etc. WELL good luck, hopefully someone comments here with better knowledge on the issue, & I WISH APRIL WOULD HURRY UP TOO!

I think you've got a decent shot (and I hope that bloody rumor is true!). I'm in a similar situation as well. I pulled a 2.92 because I was in the hospital during finals week of Spring 2010 and failed a couple classes. But I managed a 4.0 last fall with 16 units so who knows. I'm still cautiously hopeful. Not going for an impacted major (or one in the top 10 most popular list) probably ups your chances considerably.

Good luck to both of you. Just a few more weeks now!
