Question about CSU a-g requirements?

cppkingcppking 28 replies28 threads Junior Member
I am an out of state student, and I'm kind of confused about the a-g courses. I know that I have all of the requirements, but I'm kind of confused on if I'm suppose to include some of my elective classes.

The elective classes I've taken are:
Digital interactive media
Computer science (only 1 semester)
Health /Speech
Medical terminology
Agricultural mechanics and metal technologies

I'm pretty sure that health / speech are not suppose to be included, but I'm not sure. Should I just include the rest of these classes on my app and add them to my gpa? or should I leave them out? Would they hold me accountable if I added them to my gpa if I wasn't suppose to? Honostly this is confusing. Any help would be appreciated...thanks!

Try looking up several California high schools on http://doorways.ucop.edu to see what kind of courses count toward the a-g requirements. See if any courses similar to those you have taken count. You may have to go through a lot of high schools, since many high schools do not offer anything similar to many of your courses.

The a-g requirements are typically year-long HS courses or semester CC courses. Of your list here, the only one that would likely be an "a-g" qualifier at our CA school is the digital interactive media. There are actually similar courses offered in our distract that do meet the "f" requirement, provided it is a year-long class and has a significant creative/art component.

But if im not 100% sure, should I just list it anyway? They will just take it off if they don't think it belongs there right?

You could go the csumentor.edu, set up an account and use the high school planner. It is the site you will use when applying to CSU and may or may not be useful for an out of state applicant but it will not be time wasted because it will transfer your data to the application.
