Is med school worth it?

Is it too competitive and too much schooling required to become a physicist? What do you think?

It most certainly is if you don't really want to do it (ie you are just doing it for money, prestige, family pressure or a lack of knowledge about other career options). If it's what you want to do, then it's just the price you have to pay for the career you want. All career paths have their difficulties.

If you want to become a physicist, definitely don't go to med school.

Hahaa yeah I'm only in 9th grade, by the way, so I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up. I meant physician I don't know why I put physicist lol I clearly don't know what I'm talking about but I'll learn :)

Spend some time in a hospital, especially a large teaching hospital in a large city if you can. Watch the interns, especially, if you can. If you see the patients and the way they interact with their physicians and you know that you want that in a career -- that that would drive you through difficult times -- then I think medicine is a sound choice.

For any other reason whatsoever, there are better options. But if you like patients -- even in a large hospital in a large city -- then I think medicine will be worth it.

Med school is VERY competitive, and yes there is a lot of schooling, but don't just look at the negatives. Going through med school is probably one of the most rewarding things one could do in life. But here is a warning: Do NOT go into the medical field just for the money. You won't last a day in the hospital environment (that is if you can handle med school first). If you want to go into this field, I encourage your decision 100%, just don't go in for the wrong reasons.
