I am a junior in one of the top 80 schools in Texas. I am number 11 out of 420 students in my class and am in all advanced classes. I am in speech and debate (part of NFL), I am a mentor in my school, I am in NHS (plan on pursuing leadership next year), I am in ITS (president), and I have been in 9 shows in my high school career (lead in 6 of them). My SAT/ACTs are 2010/34 respectively. Am I anywhere close to the requirements of getting into Carnegie Mellon. I am in love with computer science. I took my first class (pre ap computer science) in it this year and I wish I had taken it sooner. All the APs I have taken/taking are: AP Biology, AP World History, AP US History, AP Chemistry, AP English III, AP Physics B. APs I am taking next year are: AP Computer Science, AP Economics/Government, AP Physics C, AP Calculus AB, AP English IV. I hope I can get some helpful incites from you guys!! Thank you for the help and please excuse any spelling or grammar errors please!!!

CS is definitely tough to get into- the lowest acceptance is drama. Go check the Common Data Set for stats and see how you compare. Plus, see if you can find the break down by school. CS will definitely have one of the highest break down of metrics. No one can really chance you. You just have to apply and see. CMU does like interest I think. Financial aid sucks unless they really want the applicant. Son is at CMU but in CFA Industrial Design. It's a tough school no matter what your major. Although S says Tepper business probably have it the easiest. Or maybe they just know how to use their time management skills because apparently they party the most. Good luck.
