Essays (rating 1-10, details): I don't want to give it a number but I think I had a creative idea (but it probably could've been better written) and on my acceptance notice there was a note that said that the admissions committee was touched by my essay.
    Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):

Teacher Rec #1: 7/10 Computer science teacher, saw the letter after I applied (bc of FERPA) but she attested to my character well but could have been better
Teacher Rec #2: Didn't see (bc of FERPA) but it was an English teacher who's 12th grade class I was placed into as a junior and excelled in. I know that she really liked me (which is rare) but she is kind of impersonal so the letter could've been hit or miss.

Why you think you were accepted: probably luck! I did have a nice convo about running with the dean of admissions, since he represents my state. He mentioned that at the end of my letter! I think as long as you show a genuine interest/commitment to something, they care more about that than extremely competitive stats.
