Hmmmmm...Where to start.. well first of let me tell you that I am currently attending PCC. I was not forced or made to go there. I hate the word "made." No one is made to do anything. You always have a choice. And for those who didn't know what you were getting into going there.. its your own fault for making such a big decision such as where to go to college without doing your research. I've been looking online at reviews and most of what I see is PCC is this PCC is that.. bickering, complaining, mostly very un Christlike. People say PCC is strict and too legalistic. Here is my viewpoint. In this day and age we live in there is so many different branches of Christianity it gets crazy. Different standards and many differences in faith. I think all it should come down to is 1) jesus died on the cross to save everyone from sin, and all you have to do is believe and accept jesus in your heart. 2) Live a godly Christian life- and here is where people start bickering,3) Let others know about Christ. Why believe something your whole life and keep it to yourself. I know, So far I'm not even talking about the college but don't worry I will. As a Christian we should realize the vast range of Christianity today. We find ourselves to much today correcting each other and fighting rather than working together sometimes and reaching the lost. I chose PCC because i wanted a good education and let me tell you the education is excellent. But it will be alot for you if you are not used to rigorous schooling. The food is great the campus is beautiful. Now we come to the topic people love to dwell upon and complain about, when I went to PCC. Okay yes there are many many many rules..but once again you should have known that coming in. And let me ask you something, is it better to have too many rules or too few. When you register to go to PCC your making a huge decision just as for any college. That's why when I looked online and saw all these reviews that were so negative I was saddened. I attend PCC and while I do not agree per say with all there rules or standards I have GREAT respect for them. Because they DO have standards and beliefs and they stand by them no matter what. What good are standards or beliefs if they are always being lowered or changed? I listen to CCM, I don't mind girls wearing jeans I don't think its un-biblical. But I realize that they have slightly different beliefs and standards than myself.. I'm not going to let that ruin my thoughts and love towards them. I have many great friends here at college and yes...there are some real pain in the butts here... but I just smile and live with them. The rules include no headphones, no movies, and such others that many scream tyranny but really? They are there because the faculty love the students(most lol) and for many more reasons. To be honest yes i use headphones and yes I do watch movies on campus I just don't be a jerk and openly shove it in the authorities face like many do. If I get caught I am not going to argue and yell about the rules, I knew them and I got caught=my fault. The dating rules are very strict. The entire worlds perception of dating is so askew that even many times we Christians get caught in the physical aspects of a relationship(I know from experience) rather than the spiritual. Friendship should come before love. All that aside you can argue well I don't believe its wrong to hold hands, or kiss before marriage and personally I do not see the wrong in it but the rules are to protect you. It is all a matter of standards. If you don't respect anyone don't expect to be respected.(trust comes with respect) Some say PCC ruined there life or there faith. If that is so than it must not have been must of a faith and your life should never be ruined by one ditch in the road. Even if you dug it yourself;) I am studying criminal justice and the amount I have learned is incredible. I guess my main point is stop tearing down this great academic Christian place. If you are really a Christian then the least you could do is pray. Or try seeing outside of your own little belief system. I know what I believe, and what my standards our. I find them in God's word. They may not line up with everyone's but I love all brothers in Christ, not just the ones whose standards I like. I plan on attending PCC 3 more years and make many more friends. PCC knows who they are and I would rather have that then a place that does not. If you think this is a viewpoint from some legalistic brainwashed child you are wrong. I have friends, good friends from many different "categories" of faith and I have even been in different ones. I was raised in a strict christian home but all through my life I questioned everything. I looked into other religions and ways of life. I was going to choose who I wanted to be. I almost went down the wrong path in life but God saved me and through his grace I am where I am now. Please, Stop all the bashing of PCC and if anything tell the good, for there is always good. All in all I love attending PCC and while I may not love everything that includes PCC I still raise my hat to them and support their strong stand for good old fashioned christian values. We should never forget where we came from. I encourage you to look into attending PCC. Great kids here. Make sure you know you definitely want to come though. =)

Any chance you could break that into paragraphs to be easier to read? I got down to #3, then scrolled, saw a ton more, and opted to skip the rest. My fault I know... but there you have it. I'm used to reading high school things (they have to use paragraphs) and I'm old, so set in my ways with what I like. A ton of text thrown together without breaks doesn't make me want to keep reading regardless of content. Sorry... well, not really. I'd skip anything similar if/when I saw it.

I wouldn't advise my kids to attend PCC. Not because of the rules or Christian perspective. Only because its a TRACS school and that means its Nationally Accreditied. Not the end of the world and its a legit form of accreditation but is very limiting when it's admissions time for Grad school. And some companies don't recognize it as legitimate. Regionally Accreditied schools Christian or not are the way to go.

Ahh sorry creek I have a bad habit of doing that..and yes it is not acredited but most go to teach in christian schools. Or as in my case the criminal justice department is pretty well known.. I know at least 10 people who went there and got very good jobs right out of college. Also the nursing program is very big and in the top ten in the nation. Those are the biggest majors here. =) But like I said it is not for everyone.. It just irks me when people complain about it. Its their own fault no matter what excuse they give. =)

PCC is not ranked (link below) nor is their Nursing Program on any reputable list. If its on a top ten list it's a list no one uses. On the US News rankings it doesn't even show up in a search. Below is the link to the top nursing schools in the nation, PCC is not on that list. RA degrees are the way to go, WAY more utility.

A list on a blog doesn't count. U.S. News or Forbes are the lists people use.

so says you right....a list is a list buddy..=P you said no reputable list...if you don't think soliant health is reputable you don't know much...see this is what I am talking about. I just wanted to give a good forum thread for PCC and all the haters and people who have problems with it come on..I know your only problem with it is it's not the right accreditation but most who go there are not looking or care if it is acredited. =) to each there own.=)

A list is not a list. I've never heard of soliant health and it is a blog with a made up list on it. If this list was the definitive source for all lists then US News would have used this list. PCC is not top anything it might be years from now. But in its current form it is not. Outside of this debate I will never hear or see this list again. Use a proper source, blogs aren't proper sources.

PCC's only problem is the main problem. Accreditation isn't something to shrug at its a very big deal.

Ask any nursing or doctor. I am pretty sure they would at least heard of Soliant Health. Ahhh but Alas I grow weary of arguing.. You think its not top, I do...we all believe different. Anyways it is a great nursing program(whether or not its ranked) and almost all places would accept a nursing student from PCC. Never heard of one who couldn't get in somewhere.

I think it's not top anything and so does any reputable list. And you think it's in the top ten using a list off a blog from a Staffing Firm located in Atlanta Georgia.

PCC lacks RA accreditation. It's a fairly big deal. I've been working for awhile and these things matter. Not all companies care but some do. Some state agency's care too. RA degrees are king this isn't an opinion they just are.

ughhh must you go on... i get it... you have a problem with schools that are not accredited. Must you go on? Yes RA accreditation is better. Yes PCC is not RA accredited but I feel like you think that automatically makes it not a good nursing program.

If you were getting a top notch education, like you claim, you'd know that linking to that blog as your supporting evidence of PCC having a "top10" nursing program is as legitimate as citing a Wikipedia article.

Also your post about you knew the rules so suck it up, but in the next sentence going on to talk about how you break the rules negates your credibility and your entire argument.

@aubs im not studying english... never was good at that...but really...obviously alot of people think PCC's nursing program is good..look at employer reviews from PCC students.

And as far as sucking the rules up, I never said that, I said you should know what they are before you attend and complain about them. If i get caught I get caught.. I ain't complaining about it and I don't complain about the rules now. SearchCriteria approved by florida Board of Nursing. There are two ways to become a nurse. With an accreditation and with something like PCC has.https://www.ncsbn.org/357.htm

Anyone considering any school should definitely research it and know what they are getting into. This includes things like rules and accreditation. ;)

PCC is one school I really can never recommend due to the latter...(had a friend who went there for a year before returning due to those rules and NONE of her credits transferred to even a local Bible college (an accredited Bible college). But if a student were to tell me that's where they are going (and they want to go there vs mom or dad making them go there) I'd wish them well.

Rules? That's a fit thing whether PCC or USMA or anything else. Accreditation is often a bigger matter. Research carefully. Teaching in a Christian school MAY be fine (it depends upon whether that school will care or not). Nursing may be fine (research that as I do NOT know). Other things? Research them. Ask where recent grads have gone or gotten hired. If you know of a grad school that interests you, ask them their thoughts about undergrad.

yes i agree creekland.. it is one of the points I am trying to get across. Everyone who complains about either PCC accreditation or rules should have researched and known.=) Hmm now that that is ironed out..anyone have any questions about the college? Humor me please lol

Invictus, I am glad you love your college and that you are willing to talk about it and defend it. I am glad you are happy with your education. And we agree on the basics of Christianity.

I'm going to respond to a question you asked in your first post, because it is a very important question. I'm not trying to argue, but to honestly answer you and present a different perspective.
And let me ask you something, is it better to have too many rules or too few.

I believe we have a biblical answer to this. The Pharisees were continually blasted by Jesus for their reliance on rules vs. inner righteousness, while Jesus was condemned by the Pharisees for behavior that was too liberal and which flaunted their rules.

My answer to your question is, fewer rules are far better. Rules cloud the situation. Rules become ends in themselves. If the rules are out of the way, we come face to face with what Christ REALLY wants from us: a relationship.

The PCC website says that it is now accredited with TRACS (Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools) -- does this mean that PCC credits will/may transfer to other schools or that a graduate school will now accept PCC transcripts? Lack of accreditation has cost the school credibility in many Christian circles. But now, students should be able to transfer or graduates go own to graduate programs? Is that correct?
