But not-overmindful. Every twenty or thirty years, Christians become convinced that the end is imminent. So far, they've been wrong about it. (The last go-round on this, the Soviet Union played a big part in the prophecies that were "obviously" being fulfilled. Now there is no Soviet Union.)

But I also have to point out that "the end" for you or for me could come at any moment.

    What signs?

There has always been crime and death in this world. Before the media, you never knew about it though. The world is doing better than it has in the past.

While "the" end or "our" end could come at any time I think we'll continue planning our college visits in preparation for applications next year.

Hunt, were you or are you a Yale student or am I remembering things incorrectly? Middle son has been being recruited by them due to his sophomore ACT score (the reason they listed) and is toying with the idea of keeping them on the list (wants science research or pre-med). If you are, or if someone else reading this has ideas about Yale from a Christian perspective, I'd love a pm with your thoughts.

Friends the end is very soon, so please be watchful for God will only take those who are ready for him when he come. Are you aware that this so called "land of the 'free' and brave" was really established by a secret society; the freemason society who will destroy this country. Have you ever heard of 'New World Order' or perhaps 'Globalization'? These terms refer to their core plan to 'unite' the world under one government who will control all the resources. Please read my next post for a source.

IBAustralia, you may be right. But then again, you may be wrong, as has everybody else who has ever predicted the end of the world was imminent. If you can find a copy, go read "The Late Great Planet Earth," or some books by Salem Kirban. They had it all figured out--but somehow, it didn't happen like they said it would. My view is that Jesus really meant it when he said that nobody knows the hour.

"However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows." (NLT)

If Jesus himself didn't know, should WE be trying to figure it out? Seems a little presumptuous to me.

    There have been sects that have prophesied the end of the world in (at the least) 30 A.D., 60 A.D., 90 A.D., the second century, 365, 400, 500, 968, 992, 1000 (Jan. 1), 1000 (May), 1005, 1033, 1147, 1179, 1205, 1284, 1346, 1496, 1524, 1533, 1669, 1689, 1736, 1792, 1794, 1830, 1832, 1843, 1844, 1850, 1856, 1881, 1890, 1891, 1914, 1915, 1918, 1919, 1920, 1925, 1941, 1975 and 1994. Right now, WeCanKnow.com is buying advertising to proclaim that it's coming on May 21, 2011. The evidence is pretty clear that regardless of the century, signs of the end time constitute a pretty standard state of human affairs.

I think interest in this is cyclical.

The sad thing is that when one of these groups turns out to be right, they won't have the opportunity to say, "I told you so."
