Did anyone else get an email about the Presidential Scholarship?

This is what it says:

"The Presidential Scholars Program offers a select group of students the opportunity to conduct research alongside world-class scholars and teachers, funding to design individual projects, and the chance to participate in activities offered exclusively to Scholars.

In their first year, Presidential Scholars are offered paid Colby Academic Research Assistant (CARA) positions, which pair them with a professor on a research project of mutual interest. After the first year, Scholars have exclusive access to Opportunity Grants of up to $3,000 for independent research, internships, or humanitarian projects. These opportunities span the curriculum, provide a catalyst for making a significant impact in the world, and help prepare students for life after Colby.

To be considered for this program, we ask that you review the tentative list of research opportunities for the Class of 2022 and indicate your project interest by February 11.

Please note: The Presidential Scholar selection process is entirely separate from Colby's holistic admissions application review. In the coming months your application will be closely reviewed by our admissions committee and you will receive your admission decision by April 1.

We look forward to learning more about you. "

It's pretty vague as to whether its an offer, nomination, acceptance, or completely unimportant. Is it an implied admission?

As far as I know from reading past threads, it's an implied admission sent to very strong applicants. My daughter has been admitted ED, but wasn't sent this.

@lettuceK Hopefully that’s the case! I’m only hesitant because it seems like they’ve changed the wording from those past years to make it more vague as to whether I’ve actually been selected in some way.

I don't think you can be the a Presidential scholar without doing this. The admissions office clearly thinks you are a strong candidate or this offer would not be made.

So odds are very good you will be admitted. And you may also get this scholarship if you apply.

@gardenstategal Thanks for the reply! Although Colby's not necessarily my top choice, this is pretty relieving about my applications in general. Also, I did submit my choices for research for this scholarship -- seems really interesting.

I got it too! The wording was honestly so noncommittal that I thought it was just a survey they sent to everyone

Do you guys know if the same applies for Ralph Bunche? @lettuceK @gardenstategal
    Here's what I got

he Bunche Scholars Program, named in honor of Nobel Prize-winning diplomat and civil rights activist Ralph J. Bunche, offers a select group of students exclusive access to leadership development opportunities and grants of up to $3,000 for independent scholarship, internships, or humanitarian projects. Bunche Scholars are recognized for their demonstrated academic achievement and community involvement. They are leaders in their community, school, or family and often exhibit a deep commitment to social justice and civic engagement.

To be considered for the Bunche Scholars Program, we ask that you review the many leadership opportunities available at Colby and indicate your area(s) of interest by February 11.

Please note: The Bunche Scholar selection process is entirely separate from Colby's holistic admissions application review. In the coming months your application will be closely reviewed by our admissions committee and you will receive your admission decision by April 1.

We look forward to learning more about you.

    Best,

    Randi L. Arsenault '09

I don't know, but I'm guessing yes. Maybe, in your case, the college see excellent potential in humanitarian causes.I would google it, if you haven't already. Since this has come from admissions, I think you can assume you are going to be admitted RD. I hope you choose Colby!

I looked it up. It's for strong students from minority backgrounds. They give no more than 35 a year, so congratulations!

Update for any future applicants with the same question: I did indeed get in. (And accepted to the scholarship itself)
