Colgate Waitlist

I also heard that Colgate took half the amount in the class ED. In all fairness, they seemed to strongly advise my D to apply EDI or II, but H and I have always hated the ED process along with the required committment from a kid who was in all probability not 100% sure. I am regretting that now.

BTW - anyone else out there that got in from the WL? Heard there was very little movement.

I don't know the stats on Colgate's ED - but I would be absolutely shocked if they took more than usual - they knew it would be a competitive year, so I doubt they would have ever done that.

While I am very bias, I would definitely tell your daughter to come to school at Colgate. I talked to one of my friends at Bucknell today and she seemed to agree that Colgate definitely has a heftier party atmosphere, but that Bucknell does not seem to lack in that department either.

Also, not that we should base everything on this [or even anything...for that matter] but Colgate is ranked higher than Bucknell and does pull from a larger geographic area than Bucknell.

I got in off the waitlist a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how many they've taken or plan on taking

bump---any news out there on Colgate's WL? No letter yet saying they've closed it, but haven't really seen much if anything as far as movement.

Anyone have any official news on the waitlist?

i doubt they are still using the WL - it would be nice if they would email or write to these kids and let them know it's over. It would give some closure, and I have read where other schools do that. Ungh.

They probably haven't done that because the WL isn't necessarily over. I have even heard of somewhen when I was at B-school at Dartmouth who moved out of the dorms the second day because they got off the WL @ Stanford. Don't give up hope until they tell you to.

D got a letter from Colgate admissions today. The waitlist is closed, but they offer waitlistee's the "opportunity" to stay on a summer WL which will remain open til the end of July. I told her it ends here. Even if they did take any kids this summer, the # couldn't be more than 2-3, and then they've got to deal w/not having signed up for and chosen housing, etc. She's excited about where she's going, although I know she wishes it was Colgate. I think now she'll really get her arms around her school, without wasting another month with that nagging 'maybe.' I feel sort of bad telling her not to stay on it, but at this late date I think she needs to totally move on, heart and soul.

My S got the summer waitlist letter yesterday. Doesn't make us feel particularly hopeful, but don't see any harm in staying on the list as Colgate was his first choice. He has already selected classes, sent housing forms, etc. for his next choice that he is really looking forward to.
