Is it worth my time to tell colleges about art award

I won 1st place in my regions scholastic photography portfolio competition. Is this something I should be letting my colleges know about so late in the game or will they be annoyed? (I am not going into art in college if that matters?)

Go ahead and send them a letter, any update about an award can't hurt.

A very short letter restating your interesting in the college and mentioning the award is probably fine. Send it to your regional admissions officers. Congratulations on the award, and best wishes on your applications.
