Are there any languages that colleges prefer you to take? Do dead languages count as foreign languages?

    I have never seen any college or university express a preference for one language over another. And yes, dead languages count.

    I think the only think to be careful of here is that you want a college that teaches the language you have learned. For example, if you have learned latin and havent fullfilled your requirement out of HS look for a college that has latin.
