Is valedectorian a "scholastic distinction" or award?

Well, obviously it is, but is it recommended to add list it as such in the award section of the common app or the scholastic distinctions section of the MIT app?

I barely have anything, nothing actually, (its not really my fault), and am reluctant to leave it so blank
