clubs and stuff

the reason that i started a lot more clubs this year is because i can drive now (junior). because before that, my parents couldn't take me everywhere if i was supposedly going to go to competitions. How would colleges look at that. would they assume that i was lazy and started doing many clubs to "buff" my resume? because compared to many of my other friends, they either had other relatives that took them or their parents could do it.

If you can show genuine enthusiasm for your activities through your essays etc. it should be fine. I know that there is some controversy surrounding what should be put in the additional comments section of the CommonApp, but perhaps you can talk to your GC and see if an explanation is worth including in your application.

(I didn't put anything in my additional comments section, even though I really wanted to write about some of my other projects; my GC made it seem like this space was reserved for explaining things like dire circumstances. After spending time on CC I'm no longer sure).
