Why did UF receive ALL of my scores?

This is horrible. I took both the SAT and ACT twice, and my ACT scores were horrible, but I did well on the SAT. When I applied to University of Florida, I only sent them my SAT scores, but on my application status it says they received my ACT tests as well. What can I do? How did they even do that?!!! All advice appreciated

ACT composite 1: 23
ACT composite 2: 25

SAT composite 1: 1800
SAT composite 2: 1830

Am I doomed? How will those low scores affect me?

Most likely when you registered for the ACT you put UF as a recipient. How else would they know to send the scores to UF instead of the 3000 other schools that accept scores?

@TomSrOfBoston The thing is, I never did that! That's why I'm so confused. I actually never put any college as recipients when I took my tests. I only send the scores once I KNOW the scores!

Then how did the ACT people know to send them to UF? They do not send out scores randomly.

Is there any chance that your high school sent your scores (?).

ETA: Old thread where someone talked about scores on a transcript: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/316007-act-scores-on-transcript.html

Hmmm that's what I'm thinking. Had to have been my school. Wow I'm so upset right now. It's like my school wants me to get rejected.

Will UF overlook the low scores and only care about the higher scores?

Well, my go-to person on this forum for UF is @Gator88NE . Hopefully he will chime in!

Can you check with your guidance counselor at school and see if that's actually what happened (i.e., they put the scores on your transcript)?

What does your GPA and your ECs look like? UF does "holistic" admissions.

    Unweighted GPA: 4.0
    UF GPA (+1 for AP/DE, +0.5 for Honors): 4.6

My EC's are slightly above average

Your GPA definitely helps, but I'm just a mom with a rising senior myself, and he is my first one to look at UF (so take what I say with a grain of salt LOL).

Wishing you luck - I feel much better seeing your GPA.

Also, I have read that the essay is important at UF.

Schools typically use the standardized scores that best help your case and ignore the rest. You can always call/email admissions at UF to confirm that is the case at that school.

happy1 is correct, schools my D applied to all said this, they are looking for reasons to take you, not reject you.

To determine admission, Florida will use your highest scores. If the SAT, it superscore and thus your actual score will be the combination of the highest section scores from your two tests. If that SAT superscore is considered better than your ACT scores, it is the one that will be used. Any lower scores will not be used against you.

    Are you instate???

    >>>
    Cumulative unweighted GPA: 4.00
    Weighted GPA: 6.08
    >>>

UF cares more about GPA. You're likely going to get admitted if you're instate with a 4.0 UW, unless your curriculum was easy.

UF recommends you send them all of your scores. As drusba said, UF will use the highest and ignore the lowest. For example, if your SAT is better than your ACT, they will only consider your SAT.
