Talk to the GC at your school about your plan. They will probably have experience on how well it will work.

You rec'd your 1.5GPA at the community college who dismissed you and rejected your appeals. Now you're wondering if you put in some good (successful) time at a trade school, you can eventually go back to community college, then to a bachelors and maybe even a Masters, right?

Well the ones with the answers are at the community college. Your inquiries lie with them as they will tell you what will qualify for re-admittance. Or even with another community college, you'll still have to discuss the entirety of your CC career and your dismissal. Another CC might give you different advice.

At this point, it's nice to imagine a masters and bachelors but don't get too hung up on those future plans. Currently, your willingness to take baby steps (after an initial poor start) is good. Hopefully you'll find success there and the CC will recognize that. Good luck to you.

@ReRe11213 , there is hope. I went to comm college. I totally wasted time and ditched classes. Then I was put on academic probation. My grades were all Cs. Being put on probation was a wake up call. I fianlly go serious about college, and managed to graduate in 6 years. During that time, I made the Dean's list, I worked, I travelled the world and enjoyed life. You can do it, but you have to decide to get serious about your education. Can you go,to trade school and Comm College at the same time? You need to sit down and talk over your options with guidance at your college. Good luck!

What do you want to do? What type of job are you interested in?
Why did you get bad grades?
Is now the time to go to school? Should you work and figure out what you want?
Should you look into becoming an electrician or plumber or the like?
    Is military an option?

What kind of school did you get the 1.5 GPA in?

There is always hope and a way out. Apply to another community college and don't transfer anything. It's open admissions - they have to take you. Then do better and transfer into a 4 year college with better grades.

@ReRe11213 have you talked to guidance at another community college yet? I think what Amy989 says is true. You need to go to guidance and they will help you figure it out. How about onljne classes with an accredited onljne college? Then if you do well, you can go back to your original college and ask them to reconsider. I really think you could even go,back to,the original college that dismissed you and ask a guidance ecounselor there how you can get back in. I think we are saying that. If you feel you can't do that, enrol in a trade school, but do check out its reputation first.

Rere, please get in touch with some local colleges a and ask them. Send the guidance dept an email and tell them what you have told us here. We can't really answer the question for you.

How do you intend to pay for your classes? At my former community college where I was both a counselor and a financial aid counselor, no student was dismissed for lack of academic progress but federal and state aid were withdrawn. The college would allow students to take classes as long as they could pay without grants or loans.

I suggest you enroll in another Community College. It's open admission - they have to take you. It might be best not to transfer in any classes or mention your old CC. I would wipe the slate clean and start over. If your academic record happens to be part of the studentclearinghouse then you can opt out by filing a Directory Information Block” or “FERPA Block. However, I doubt a community college will try to track your past academic record that way.

First things first, you should go talk to a counselor or advisor to get a better understanding of your options. That said, my understanding is that you need an associates degree from a community college or junior college in order to transfer to a 4-year. I don't think you can do that with a traditional trade school, which would only focus on one particular area of study rather than providing the breadth that an undergrad's first few years should include.
