Should I take Physics Subject Test?

JenMochiJenMochi 0 replies1 threads New Member
I'm applying to highly selective schools that recommend taking a physic subject test. However, I took AP Physics exam last May and got a 4. Should I still pay another $22 to take the Physics Subject Test (with the chance of doing worse because the memory isn't so fresh anymore)?

The physics subject test covers a wide range of high school physics topics, at high school level.

The physics AP tests cover some topics at greater depth. If you took AP physics 1, then you should know half of the physics subject test material in greater depth, but not have had anything on the other half (which you would have to self-study before the physics subject test). If you took both AP physics 1 and 2, then you should have had coverage of the physics subject test material in greater depth than the subject test covers.

If the college "recommends" subject tests (as opposed to calling them "optional"), then that is a strong hint that they expect non-disadvantaged applicants to have them.
