Should I submit my AP scores?

coppellcoppell 0 replies1 threads New Member
I am a high school senior in Plano, TX who is currently applying to colleges. My extracurricular's are outstanding and I have an SAT score of 1520. I took over 15 ap classes in high school but only took 6 ap exams, all of which are mediocre scores.
AP Human Geography - 3
AP Psychology - 4
AP World History - 4
AP Language - 3
AP US History - 3
AP Statistics - 3
I am applying to some top tier schools like Berkeley, Cornell, and Columbia for computer science. On top of the fact that none of my scores are "good" if I submit my AP scores I feel like admissions officers would wonder why I only submitted 6 and would assume I failed the rest. Should I not submit any scores or submit them anyway.

Well, first of all, I hope you already applied to those schools (Berkeley's deadline passed 2 days ago). Second, I personally think it might be a good idea to not report any scores (I'm just a random person from the internet though so please get some more advice). I agree with all of your points and they may even think you had some external issues with AP exams in general (financial/health etc) so it might be better to stay consist that way. Out of curiosity, why didn't you take more AP exams? I know at my school, they fund the first six exams but you have to pay for anything after that.

Obviously you should not submit any AP scores at this time. Interestingly AP scores are heavily influenced by the teacher who is teaching the AP course. DD have all 5's on her AP courses except Chemistry. The Chem teacher stated at the beginning of the course that he did not teach the AP exam, but did teach chemistry. He was probably the most qualified teacher she had (he had a PhD from Northwestern in Chemistry). Still no 5's in his class while other classes had well above average number of 5's.

The issue is: you do want to submit as much supportive info as you can, especially for any "most selective," where the competition is tough. But I agree, not those scores. The problem is not taking 6 only.

Wondering why you didn't take any stem core AP tests.
