i was wondering how the big ten schools would be ranked. i think it might go...

northwestern
u michigan - ann arbor
u illinois - urbana champagne
u wisconsin - madison
u minnesota - twin cities
purdue u
u indiana - bloomington
u iowa
michigan state u
ohio state u
penn state u

does anyone think ones better than the other or if any are underrated/overrated?

Ranked by what? Size? Winning teams? Parties? Prestige? What difference does it make?

If you are referring to academics, you really need to be a bit more specific - what field? By what criteria?

I really think you should just study a few college guides and figure out your own ranking.

actually i was wondering this... how good is the academic reputation across the entire midwest for each of the big 10 schools? i get the impression that the midwest is pretty connected, and that say, a school like michigan-ann arbor, has "home turf" recognition not just in michigan but also in illinois/chicago or ohio, etc.

Wisconsin>Illinois by most surveys. For research and grad school UM and UW are the top two.
