am i a minority?

hi! my parents immigrated to america from bangalore, a city in south india. does this make me a minority? are indians minorities? and also, will this help/hurt/not affect my college chances? thanks!

    Indians are over represented at top colleges, thus, you are at a disadvantage.

    In the scheme of things, yes you are a minority because your race is underrepresented compared to whites in this country. However, in the oh-so-skewed college scheme of thigns, as mj has pointed out, indians are overrepresented (whatever that means) and so you will have to work just a little harder to get in, because you're not in one of those minority groups that typically perfoms poorly (ie. black and hispanic) that colleges want/need.
