Is 12 credit hours bad? (med school)

I'm a pre-med freshman currently and am registering for classes next semester. Does 12 credit hours make me seem like a slacker particularly in the eyes of future medical school admissions committees? So far I plan on taking Chem 2 + Lab, Anatomy & Physiology + Lab, Social psychology, and a 1 credit seminar class required for my major. How's this look? I was considering adding a Directed Individual study credit which is essentially research and requires 3-10 hrs a week in lab.
