Why are people in social contexts incredibly stupid? Are people just that ignorant about others' feelings, or do they just choose to be stupid?

Why did I read your user name and believe you were a girl and then proceed to write out, "how big are your melons?" until I saw the gender specification under your user name?

Actually, Marx said that religion was the opium of the people, not the opiate of the masses.... uh OH!

when did you lose your virginity?

Depends on type of virginity. ^_^
That was my question to you. Can it be proved? Is it true? I didn't ask for a summary.

It's true if you assume it as true and integrate it into your axiomatic system. ^_^
In addition, what is the meaning to life? (42 is not an answer.)

Meaning is socially constructed and imprecise. Moreover, its definition is highly connotative. If we adhere to the traditional societal definition, life is meaningless unless we build it up from an axiomatic system. Unfortunately I don't know what axioms to arbitrarily define!
    Who is John Galt?
    Wikipedia :D
Why do you think I'm not responding to your emails?

I have thought of several reasons
    (a) you're afraid of offending me (I doubt it's the case but who knows :p)
    (b) you didn't really do anything on CC/Facebook/del.icio.us for 4 days and then didn't feel like replying after such a hiatus
    (c) I said something that offended you :p
Would you consider yourself more of an intellectual, or a kid?

Kid, I'm too disorganized to be intellectual :p
Can every even number other than 2 be represented as the sum of two primes?

Lawl I prefer to speculate on other things than unproven conjectures built from arbitrary axiomatic systems. :p (such as Goldbach's)
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide -- no escape from reality?

I abide by the "we're in a computer simulation" paradigm
What should I try next, pacifist or foodless?

Foodless. Pacifism is boring nowadays. ^_^
Is religion really the opiate of the masses?

One manifestation, though not the only one. ^_^ There has to be something else to be the opiate of the masses under godless communist rule. ^_^
    Do you like cats?

I'm sure they have interesting genotypes. But I'm not particularly fond of their phenotypic manifestations.
Do you think ChaosTheory is hot in real life?

    98.6 degrees, yes :D
    Are you sure?

Conviction is useless unless you want to argue :p
Does this sound like a fun thread?

    Perhaps. :)

it's almost perfect (except for distance to university and occasional earthquakes).
Why are people in social contexts incredibly stupid? Are people just that ignorant about others' feelings, or do they just choose to be stupid?

Stanford Prison Experiment. :D On a different level'

But really, since social incentives overrule other incentives such as the incentive to pursue knowledge for its own sake. Somehow people don't care about the massive amounts of stimuli redundancy they encounter, so long as they can get laid
What is the rationale behind the claim "time is the fourth dimension"?
The equations of theoretical physics (think Lorentz equations) must count time as the 4th parameter on top of the other 3 dimensions
    How to get straight As?

    dopamine reuptake inhibitors
Are you overwhelmed by all these questions yet?

I'm more overwhelmed with existential ANGST
Will you explain the law of cosine?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_cosines

Much clearer than what I can come up with ^_^ It's really just plug-in the way you're taught it in schools.
