Obviously we can't spot reduce, so what is the best way to produce a flat belly? Just intense cardio, or? Anyone who would like to share their experiences; please do so.

I'm debating whether i want to write a really long post or not.

    1. excercise.

Excercising will burn calories which will speed your metabolism (which is good)

    a. running
Running burns more calories face value.

    b. lifting weights
Lifting weights burns more calories in "the long run" (a good Eagle's album btw).

which burns more calories? 20 minutes of running vs. 20 minutes of weightlifting? Running burns more in a 20 minute span, but with weightlifting, if you actually wear and rip your muscles correctly, you will burn more calories in the hours (even days) after you weightlift because the body will repair itself a burn calories in the process. The more calories burned the more your metabolism will speed up which is a good thing.

    2. Eating

So lets say you've started running or lifting weights nearly dayly and you've notice yourself hungry more (which is a direct result from burning calories and speeding your metabolism) do not freak out and abstain from eating. You WILL be more hungry, so eat!

    3. What to eat?

eat right. People seem to freak out with what your supposed to eat. The government already figured it out, follow the stupid food pryamid you learned in middle school. Eat your greens, drink water, cut on sweets, and watch your BMI go down.

you could spend money on unorthodox diet plans or buy the new ab crunch that billy mays advertised, or just do this. It is the most straightforward and fail safe way. If your female, please don't not (sorry double negative) weightlift because you think you'll bulk up on muscles. You'll lose so much more than gain (pun intended), trust me.

    1. Run or lift (whatever burns the calories. you could even have a lot of sex, i dont care. whatever burns the calories but weightlifting burns the most)
    2. Eat more (embrace the increased metabolism!) but eat right
    3. Get more sleep
    4. Watch the BMI drop.
    5. Don't go back to your old lifestyle.
    6. Be happier

If you're asking to lose weight, your asking for a lifestyle change. Prepare for change and sacrifice.

Losing weight rests on a single principle: Burn more calories than you consume.

A number of anaerobic sprints, assuming that you are healthy and have doctor's clearance you can do the following:

    1. Walk for 30 minutes(warm_up)

Sprints: 30 seconds in duration - Progressively harder. You can do this on a treadmill or outside.

1 50% of maximum heart rate
    2. 50%
    3. 60%
    4 70%
    5 80%
    6 90%
    7 90%- 95%
    8 90% -95%

No fat consumption 1 hour prior to your workout.
No sugar consumption for 2 hours after your workout. Eat lean meats/chichen/fish and pletty of vegetables.
Cooldown - 5 minutes easy walking.

II. Do not eat simple sugars or carbs. Eat as many vegetables and some fruits as you like.

You will lose a lot of weight. Stick to the prescribed way of eating.

Diet (maybe 70-80 percent of the equation), and the rest mostly cardio (high intensity is better for muscle sparing)...

Excess abdominal fat probably indicates you have defective insulin responses. Is there a history of metabolic syndrome or heart attack, stroke, etc, in your family? How old are you? Current height/weight/bodyfat percentage?

other things you can do is to increase your success chances are to increase fiber intake, and omega 3 intake...Feel free to take 10-20 g of fish oil a day and 50+ g of fiber (veggies mostly, you can take fiber or whatever if you can't make it) till you achieve your goal.

South Beach Diet ... developed by a cardioligist with a main goal of reducing girth (a major heart risk is waist wider than hips) ... I lost 17 pounds in a month on South Beach and it almost all came off my waist!

Just diet. You don't even need to do cardio (unless it's for fitness). Eating less will have the same effect as doing cardio, which is increasing caloric deficit.

I'd advise that you count calories as most people who fail don't understand that it just boils down to calories. If you have a low metabolism you could fail to lose weight even if you eat less than all of your friends. So count your cals and monitor them so that you're losing your desired about per week.

Yes you can spot reduce abdominal adiposity. A very low carbohydrate diet produces greater loss of fat mass, particularly in the truck region (which is most highly associated with a plethora of health concerns). I suggest you do a Google Scholar search using the terms "carbohydrate restriction" "very low carbohydrate diet" and "Jeff Volek". You will find very compelling research published in Lipids and Nutrition & Metabolism, just to name a few.

There is a significant body of literature to support selective fat loss on very low carbohydrate diets. This fat loss with the concomitant retention of lean body mass, promotes numerous health changes.

dieting works but most people don't stick with it.

you're better off just eating healthy and exercising as much as possible. you're going to burn off a TON of calories by running and working out daily.
