This is weird as most parents try pushing their kids to STEM however my dad won't let me be an engineer. Im a sophomore taking advanced chemistry and pre calculus and aspire to be a mechanical engineer. However my dad himself an engineer with a PhD doesn't think I can handle MechE (pr any engineering for thst matter). Even though i am taking and succeeding in advanced stem classes and doing well on my math tests my dad still had doubts. I think the main reason is because I hated my math teachers in 8th and 9th grade so my dad thinks I hate the subject, even though math is my favorite subject. I try explaining to him but he just doesn't listen. He keeps pounding me to be a lawyer or banker, I think next year is the make it or break it moment as I will take ap physics 1 and calc bc as a junior. How can I persuade my dad that im fit for engineering and still remain cool with him?
