Not sure how exactly to write the essay

So I know you're supposed to write a story of something that's meaningful and shows who you are. But my issue is that some of the things that are meaningful to me done have like a specific story, but are more like developments over time. I don't really remember any moments where it was like BAM, I changed.

I also don't remember exact conversations that well either so I don't know how I'm supposed to tell good stories of the moments I do remember.

Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any advice!

Yes, most people change gradually over time. You are not necessarily supposed to tell a story (though framing around some narrative is usually helpful), and certainly not one with dialogue that is true to conversation that happened.

I recommend that you read some sample college essays on official college admissions websites (e.g. on the University of X's website) to get a better idea of what college essays can look like.

I've read many sample essays and when in reading them, I feel like I don't have any specific moments that changed me and when I try and write about it, they just seem cliché and made up.

    Maybe pick a different prompt?
