DID I SCREW MYSELF?!?!?!

For my Princeton application, under the question 'Favorite Website?' I can sit hear and try to convince you that I'm not insane but that's not what I'm here for. Until recently I wasn't too worried about it; being that Princeton's admission rate is so low, I viewed my application as a long shot anyways. However, I just finished my alumnus interview and it went EXTREMELY WELL. He told me that I have the "exact qualities that Princeton looks for in a candidate" and that he will be "highly recommending you to the admissions department." With this information, I feel like I could have had a serious shot at getting in had I not tainted my application with this vulgar website. So I guess my question is: in your opinion, do you think the admissions department may overlook this? Maybe get a kick out of it? Or will they be so obscenely offended that they immediately reject me?

The problem is not whether they will be offended. The problem is that you come across as immature. It also broadcasts that you are not taking your application seriously. So my guess is that yes, you may have hurt your chances, though who knows? What is absolutely clear in my mind is that it did not help you at all.

Of course, your chances were never very high to begin with. Interviews are, at very most, "Considered". So, if you make the cut, and are in the top 5% of all the applicants, and it comes down to the interview being the only difference, then, perhaps, it will matter that the interviewer recommended that you be accepted.

Even with that interview and that response, I am sorry, but you still do not have a "serious shot" at admission, unless you (or you parents) are famous, you a double legacy or athlete with very high stats, you have multiple national and international awards on top of an amazing transcript, or your parents have donated a few million dollars.

While I can understand a 17 year old acting like a 10 year old, I do not understand why you even bothered to apply.

I guess I can't figure out what website that is so I really can't comment other than if it was inappropriate and did not show you in a positive light then you have a problem. I always told my kids that you never get a second chance to make a first impression, Your application was your first impression.

I don't know what the website is either. But why did you bother to apply if you were going to deliberately shoot yourself in the foot? Obviously, you didn't see your application as a complete joke since you showed up to interview.

Admissions officers have to sift through thousands of apps and are probably happy to find reasons to make a cut.

Sorry, but my sympathy goes to the students who put heart and soul into crafting thier applications, and don't take chances with silly antics.

I also think you wasted $75 doing that. Who knows, though. Maybe someone will think it's ... well...honest?

The website you mentioned must have been a doozy. Wondering what your thought process was when you hit submit, but what’s done is done. The legend about the infamous clam fart student is that he got in. You can google it, but it’s a legendary thread here on CC.

Looks like the OP had to find some place to confess his error in judgement and move along. He probably couldn't confess this to his parents.
