College essay on my immigration to the United States.

Hey all!
I am a sophomore in high school right now but I have started brainstorming college essay ideas, and I was thinking about my move to Georgia from Malaysia. I had never moved previously, except from one small move to Germany for a year when I was four, and I had even lived in the same house for majority of my life. As you can imagine, it was a huge change for me to move to a different country at the age of twelve, and it truly has shaped me and built me into the person I am today. I know it is a little cliche, but I was thinking of maybe focusing on the smaller aspects of it, like people making fun of my accent (but how I overcame my fear of being different, and embraced it), or something simpler like my first time eating a Chickfila sandwich.
My dream school is Emory University, and my brother actually got in with his essay about the move (although his was more general, and he wrote about how oppressive Malaysia was and stuff, so different from the idea of my essay).
I'm open to any and all feedback.
Thank you!

An idea is only as good as how it is executed.

If you can take the "cliche" topic, but execute it in a way that is truly unique to you, and it will be a great essay.

Don't think about your essay until the end of junior year.

Yup. I started an answer, because my daughter had a successful “immigration story” common app essay too, but then also decided it’s too soon now. You will likely still grow and develop a lot over the next year and a bit; and be in a better position to approach the essay then.
