Music Essay

I pretty much have a set topic for my common app essay. It opens with short moments where my schools/ “homes” have changed. I then go on about how my “homes” will inevitably change for the rest of my life. Then I bring in how I found a portable home that would stick with me for the rest of my life— the bass. The bass has calmed he and put me into a realm of peacefulness.
Would this be a good topic that isn’t cliche to get me into selective schools?

Remember that standard warning against "3Ds" in the college essays (death, divorce, disease)?
Did you see that essay written by a student who got to Harvard, talking about death, divorce, and disease in her family, published in the New York Times? It was a masterpiece of perfect tone and maturity.
    It's not "what," it's "how."
