How long should your essay be to colleges? I know its on here somewhere but I can't find it.

    I think common ap is 250-500 words.

    That might just be my downfall. I got an idea this afternoon for an ap essay, and I'm really proud of how the essay turned out... except it's 1300+ words long. Argh. This is going to be harder that I thought!

    I think it's more around 500ish. 250 sounds a bit short, but if you can express yourself well in that amount, then power to you.

    what happens if it's too long? mine right now is kind of three short anecdotes. its around 950 words and ive already cut a lot

    I don't know, it depends if it seems long when you read it... If you want, I could read it and tell you if it sounds like anything could be cut.

    A general rule of thumb is to keep it to 1 page, single spaced.
