I personally have not seen a mouse yet, but other girls on my floor have....(I thought 3rd floor was immune, apparently not.)

For those who go to schools where weather isn't exactly mild and the buildings aren't exactly brand-spanking new, you may have this problem too.

People here say to keep your food up high and put away.....but what else? I don't have much for food....just some packaged oatmeal, some cheese in the fridge, and chocolate for Christmas presents....

But my friend, who lives 2 floors down, found a mouse in her laundry. Dead. How would you prevent that?

Don't leave your laundry bags on the floor if you can avoid it.
Mice are going to come inside if the weather is rainy or if it cold. That's just what happens. Put down traps and don't leave things they can get into on the floor (laundry bags, put your shoes away, etc.)

buy the very inexpensive mouse traps made of wood, and place 1 with a little peanut butter inside a brown paper lunch type bag. Put the entire thing where mice seem to be found or seen most in your room...in the closet, or under the bed. When it snaps and the mouse is caught, all you have to do is peek inside the brown bag to verify, and roll the top, throw away the whole thing and no mess! Or, get a cat that's good at catching mice!

teachandmom, I love the lunch bag idea! We have a cabin with mice, so I will remember that trick.
