Stats alone will not get you into nor rejected from any school so beyond your stats, what is your HS course rigor, SAT II subject tests and EC’s? Also you will need some outstanding personal insight essays.

UC’s tend to be more GPA focused vs. test scores. Below is some statistical data and not major specific so depending upon the competitiveness of the major, you need to be above the averages.

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted:
    UCB: 10%
    UCLA: 9%
    UCSD: 34%
    UCSB: 38%
    UCD: 41%
    UCI: 38%
    UCSC: 70%
    UCR: 84%
    UCM: 95%

2018 UC capped weighted GPA averages:
    UCB: 4.23
    UCLA: 4.23
    UCSD: 4.16
    UCSB: 4.13
    UCI: 4.13
    UCD: 4.11
    UCSC: 3.96
    UCR: 3.81
    UCM: 3.71

    2018 Data:
    25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:
    UCB: 1360-1540
    UCLA: 1340-1540
    UCSD: 1300-1520
    UCSB: 1270-1500
    UCD: 1220-1480
    UCI: 1230-1490
    UCSC: 1210-1450
    UCR: 1130-1380
    UCM: 1020-1280

is cognitive science a comparatively easier major for me to get in? If not according to my stats and ec what majors would boost my chances

@Helo12345 UCSB does not offer Cognitive Science for undergrads.

UCSD admits into the University first and then into the major so it is possible to be accepted into UCSD but not into your choice major. They do consider alternate majors if they are non-capped (impacted). You have asked this question for several schools about “easier” majors, so my answer is that you should apply to your choice major if that is the area you want to study since many times changing majors later can be problematic or consider applying as Undeclared. Either way, you would need to do some research on the difficulty or ease of changing majors later.

Make sure you have some safety schools on your list, that are affordable and are willing to attend.

Hi, I have multiple safety schools on my list, such as cal east bay. I was also wondering what my chances are at SDSU I tried searching it up but I didn't get a clear answer. my EI is around 4534. I was planning to go for an applied mathematics major. @Gumbymom

Your chances are very good. An EI threshold to target for SDSU is 4300+.

@Helo12345 In my opinion, as an FA19 admitted student, your chance at UCSD is very good. However, college admissions are not just about stats and ECs. I have seen people with 1530+ SAT and decent ECs also got rejected at UCSD.
Also, @Gumbymom UCSD does consider alternative capped major. I applied to Computer Science as my preferred major and Neuro Bio as an alternative major. Didn't get into Computer Science but got accepted into Neuro Bio.
If time permits, I recommend you to take a second try on your Math SAT2 because there are so many applicants with 800s on SAT2 in the admission pool.

UCSD recommends that if you apply to a capped major, you select a non-capped major as an alternate. True, it does not state they do not consider alternate capped majors but for better chances I would lean toward a non-capped major if UCSD is your first choice.
