Though i thought this would be a fun thread to get going. What stereotypes do you guys think are associated with various majors? I'll go first. What do you typically think of when you think of someone who is a communications major?
Please reply with your stereotype and post a new major for the next person to stereotype!

I think someone interested in human behavior (someone who wants the psych experience without the wide array psych classes), or someone looking to do nonprofit work overseas after college (do-gooder, world traveler).

    At BC?

Finance majors before the crash? Can't wait to work at one of the big four and make more money than YOU. HAHAHAHAHAH.

Finance majors after the crash? What am I going to do now? I shouldn't have pinned all my hopes on one career path. Shucks!

Math Major, wanting to be a teacher? Not much career options.

Political Science: wants to get into politics but has no experience with it.

(Btw, a Math major is great, it shows that one has very strong quantitative abilities and is more versatile than something applied like Finance; Communications on the other hand is the major for people who aren't smart enough for the business program)

History (and please don't say "teaching," people need to educate themselves a bit and understand that college major rarely leads to a specific, related career).

History: Someone who is looking for the easiest major possible in college. I'm thinking stuffy museum curator types.

Well, why not, I'll answer this-at NYU:

Before the crash: Let's rub in your face that you couldn't/didn't make it into Stern OR are you in Stern?
After the crash: I'm so glad I have options. Because the Stern kids are ****ED.

    Prelaw.

Prelaw? I'm taking these prelaw classes but I'll probably do terribly on my LSAT.

Fine Arts - Chasing their dreams which they will never meet. Will live paycheck to paycheck for a while before spiraling into a depression, becoming addicted to heroin, and dreaming of what "could've been."

Do you have any idea how big the demand is for math majors?

Math Major sounds so pointless... Unless you want to be a Math prof. or an Accountant.
