Nervous about making friends!

Here's my situation:
I am really indecisive. I ended up picking a newly reopened dorm that no one really knows about with my roommate where there was only one spot left. I thought i was lucky. But I was wrong.
So I have found many people on my floor through facebook and apparently many of them are all friends from the same high school who planned to all live together. So starting out, there won't be that many new people on my floor. And I don't know anyone.
I am nervous enough about making friends (not a big partier, I want some intelligent people). I really regret my decision and i was this close to choosing the honors dorm but it's too late now. I have a roommate and the decision was final. What am I going to do? Normally people make friends in their dorm because everyone's new. But in my situation, there's already a high school clique! How do I make friends? This sucks so bad.

<.< you realize there are partiers in the honors dorm as well.

You are overthinking everything. Just because they came from the same school, doesn't mean they are friends.

You can meet them anywhere: Class, library, bathroom, food hall, ect...

Since you want "intelligent" friends, you should probably just go to places with "intelligent" people. Strike up conversations with other students in your philosophy classes. Hang out at Starbucks or Barnes and Noble.

    Heh, Bathroom?

OP try becoming friends or associates with a fellow from one of those cliques. Not everyone are all 'click'ity clicked' together 24/7 right. So why not sort of sneak your way into a clique of your choice by relating to at least one human in that group that will soon introduce you to another human of the group (sort of like Facebook's friend of friends technique), and before you know it... TaDaaaa) ) ) you will realize that you are apart of a clique. So you might feel cooler than others while wearing designer shades that covers your fa.... ooops almost got off on a tangent there.

But yeah...you might soon feel the urge to share your expertise on networking and soon you'll be able to come back on CC and let others who will be in your shoes some time around about this time next year know how it worked out for you.

Also join an organization with respects to your major. Now get out there and be social.
