Confused about International Studies and International Business

AoRewindAoRewind Registered User Posts: 8 New Member
Hi everyone,

I'm really confused about the major international studies how it relates to the major international business. The U.C. schools I'm applying to don't have specifically international business as a listed major such as UCSD or UCI but it is under the major International Studies. If I want to major in International business would I have to be a major in International Studies? If anyone has any more details or info on this I'd really appreciate it if you can help me out. Thanks!!!

Maybe they're trying to say you need to double major or major and minor?

International studies is sometimes called global studies and it isn’t really business.

At UCI, there is no international business concentration within the business school but the global aspect of business is built into each concentration( like marketing, finance, etc).

If you want to study International Business as a major, then you need to focus on private schools or the Cal States. Top International Undergrad Business programs include USC, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton, University of San Diego, University of San Francisco, University of Redlands although UCSD’s program may be an option.

The International Studies major at UCI will help prepare you to pursue a graduate degree in International Business along with other areas such as International affairs and public policy and International law. You could do a minor in Management but you cannot minor in Business Admin nor double major at UCI for International Studies and Business Admin.

UCSD’s International Studies Program has an International Business option which could fit your criteria.
