Good minors for Political Science?

This might be in the wrong place cause I couldn’t find the College Majors section but I’m considering either majoring in PoliSci or Sociology. Maybe I should minor in Sociology and major in PoliSci? I’ve also heard statistics and economics are good minors as well that I’d consider. Any more ideas?

Beyond the minors you mentioned, consider philosophy.

Consider the source of your interest in PoliSci. If it is about government and "politics" then perhaps an international relations minor might make sense. If it is more about public service or social activism then maybe think about a peace & conflict studies focus if your school offers anything along those lines.

What is your goal after college, academia, public service, grad/professional school, private industry (and what sector)?

@BKSquared I’m planning to get my masters and then try to work for a non profit or maybe a public sector job, like research or intelligence analysis. I’m still unsure.

If there will be quantitative analysis in the areas you are likely to pursue, I'd make sure you take courses that involve that type of analysis. The minor is less important than taking courses within whatever subject matter that requires that kind of analysis.

Maybe something else in the humanities. Like American Studies, history, or a culture study.

It largely correlates with what you want to pursue as a career. E.g. an economist may double major Political Science with Economics. With that said, if you want to work in a public sector job, do you have a general idea of your area of focus?

Nonetheless, Philosophy and Sociology both work great with Poli. Sci.
