Middlebury College VS. Boston College

Hello all, I am very lucky to have been accepted at both Middlebury and BC, but I am having a very hard time making a decision. Any feedback would be great or pros & cons of each school in terms of resources, alumni network, job prospects, graduate school placements, etc.

Pretty different schools and settings. Did you get a chance to visit both?

What major(s) are you interested in and type of career?

    What are the relative costs?

In general, both will be excellent in terms of alumni network, job prospects, grad school placement.

I have visited both schools and I loved each. Location wise, they are totally different though with one being in a bustling city and another in rural VT. I plan on majoring in Economics and maybe polysci, with a prospective minor in global health.
Career wise, I would either like to work for the government in DC but I have also considered getting an MBA or JD.
Middlebury is $8,000 cheaper for me.

Middlebury has a direct pipeline to certain agencies in DC, mostly State and CIA. Also recruited in finance. And it's cheaper. I'd go Midd without thinking twice.

I'd go with Midd too, considering your interests in Public Health and DC internships.
The fact it's cheaper makes that even sweeter.

Middlebury is also a cheaper location - there are very few places to spend money.

PS. my kid attends Midd and absolutely loves it (neuroscience majot, environmental minor).

I'd go to Boston College in a heartbeat. Location, location, location. To me, a more vibrant lifestyle than Middlebury, VT. 8K is nothing in the scope of a lifetime. Middlebury seems like the colleges of yesteryear and boarding school. JMHO - don't shoot me Midd lovers. But Boston...to live that close to the city but be on the campus and enjoy all that it offers...once in a lifetime.

You can live in Boston (or another city) when you graduate and still take advantage of the city. Midd for sure.

OP: Is the COA difference of $8,000 per year ?

Do you plan on taking out any student loans to attend either school ?

Both law school & MBA programs are expensive. Often one's undergraduate debt limits realistic choices for graduate school.

Wash DC is the most highly educated area among the 50 states & DC with almost 33% of those age 25 or older holding graduate degrees.

    Need more info. about you.

For example, what type of high school did you attend ?

How do you feel about political activism or social justice warrior types ?

Do you enjoy the freedom to be anonymous on occasion or do you prefer to always be among familiar faces ?

    Any interest in sports ?

Any foreign language skills ? Any interest in foreign language study ?

What is most important to you when considering the next 4 years ?
