English Department at CC

I would like to hear from anyone who has information or experience with the English Department at CC. How does the block plan work in literature classes? Are interest levels maintained throughout a three-hour class, or does the discussion start to wane? What kind of reading and paper loads are packed into three weeks? Are there any daylong activities akin to the field work done at CC in the sciences? Thanks in advance for your help!
