ED Interview

rockstar01121rockstar01121 Registered User Posts: 66 Junior Member
Has anyone who applied for ED been contacted about an interview? I was really hoping to get an interview but it's almost too late and I haven't been contacted :(

I don't even know if they do early decision interviews so I was just wondering if anyone else actually got one.

Don't worry, Columbia's interview system has not even opened up yet!. The ED deadline isn't until November 1 and most applications don't come in until the day before. Unfortunately, there are not enough interviewers to offer every applicant an interview. Keep in mind that there is no relationship to the strength of an application and whether you get contacted for an interview. It has more to do with the number of alumni in your area and the luck of the draw.

Thanks for the answer @SlowPop! However, I live in a big city and am sure there are multiple alums here (Beto has been hanging round here a lot lol) and I applied way before the deadline (October 3rd) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@SlowPop You mentioned " Keep in mind that there is no relationship to the strength of an application and whether you get contacted for an interview. " So the interview is not that important. Is that your mean?

I wouldn't say they are unimportant, but they should not be a source of stress. Interviewers are not gatekeepers. In general, an interview can only help an applicant by adding information that isn't in the application and recommendations. The interviewer's purpose is to be an ambassador for Columbia, answer questions about the College, and provide a human face in the process. Interviewers never see grades, test scores, or recommendations. Interview reports can confirm what others write about you and give applicants an opportunity to show off their personality and make their files more memorable.

Wait.....there's an interview deadline? I looked on their site, and the only deadline for interviews I saw was November 15th for China.

Hey guys, I just received an interview offer as well; I’m curious if it is of anymore significance being an early decision applicant? Does it infer that they’ve already reviewed my app?
