What if I sent my teachers' rec long before I submitted Common Applications? Help !!

edited March 2009 in Common Application
Just like the title says.. I'm a transfer applicant and I sent two of my recs early February. (I have four faculty recs from two different universities) And I submitted my Common Applications and Supplementary this March 1st, around 1 month later. I called the admissions office yesterday and they told me they won't know until early April-- but chances are those recs are lost among thousands of other freshmen applicant recommendation letters. This makes me utterly nervous right now... I simply can't ask my professors to resubmit them just because they were lost in admission process.
Does any of you know the chances of other documents being lost, because the admission offices hadn't created my files so that they simply threw them away?? Thanks so much!

Oh, and the admissions offices told me I would not be penalized for such resubmissions as long as I send them again within 1 week of notification... are they kidding? It would take at least 2 weeks before I have my SAT scores resubmitted. Collegeboard says ten days are the minimum.

I don't know what to say, but they have the liberty to do that I guess as you're the one searching for acceptance, and they really don't have much to lose. I cannot see any other option except resubmitting; if you're transferring for sure, then don't worry about the embarrassment as you'll be gone in a matter of months.

Thanks, Collegehellp. Do you really think I need to resubmit them? What are the chances of those recommendations letters being lost in Columbia, Upenn, and U of Chicago? Yeah, I'm embarrased because I don't dare to ask it twice.

They'll contact you if something is missing. They are actually pretty lenient about materials getting lost, believe it or not. My counselor didn't send in my mid-term report until a couple weeks ago, after schools sent me emails telling me they haven't received them yet.
So, just wait and see if they contact you, but if you don't like waiting, I think it's fine to resubmit it. My teachers sent two copies too.

You'll probably be fine if it's entirely their fault, but personally, I couldn't stand waiting it out and risking the school somehow overlooking me because my application seems incomplete. If possible, I'd contact the school, ask whether not resubmitting will hinder your chances, and then go from there.
