Gay student group at Michigan

I have not come out of the closet yet, but willing to know Michigan gay student body and want to have nice group of friends who can support each other, as well. It seems like there are not a lot of gay students showing up or existing in the student body in UM. How can I have a group of gay friends and share and be friends without any pressure.
I have really homophobic heterosexual friends and want to avoid them by all cost. But, I still feel somehow lonely and pressured about myself. How can I make friends here? :(

Go to college in Washington State. <--- would be an option
    Perfect match in my opinion.
(This is only if you haven't declared UMICH yet).

Kyle5755. Just be yourself (your true self) and you will be just fine. College is a time of maturity and self growth and discovery. I have kids at University of Michigan and a small private school. NO one cares what you are. You will make friends of all different types. The links above will give you some insight. You should reach out to them at this school and any others you are considering. If you feel you want/need counseling if you feel pressured or lonely at college they have those services also. You will meet gay's in engineers, business, nursing, medicine, the arts etc etc. You will have many professors that are gay.

Btw- I think you might need some new friends....in this day and age. ):

kyle, Michigan has a large and active gay community, and is one of the friendliest campuses for gay life. It is constantly listed among the best campuses for gay students. Ann Arbor is also very gay-friendly. You have nothing to worry about.

Thanks, all. I am a transfer student. I haven't got a chance in previous college to talk to and make some friends on campus. I am not sure I can have regular constant close-knitted group of friends here. Any advice?
