question(interview)...kinda worried

edited February 2009 in Cornell University
i set up an interview with an alumni on Feb. 1st. I sent the email on the Jan 29th and he has not responded to me. Should i wait it out or send another email?

I keep thinking to myself that the 1st is Super Bowl Day so he prob. doesnt want to do the interview then. This may not sound alot but he sent an email to me b4 saying he can only do interviews on a specific day, just b4 mid-feb. I dont wanna go past the deadline (which is there a specific day?)

k thnx guys.

I'm confused- what do you mean by you "set up" an interview on the 29th? Did you just email him asking for an interview, or had he ever confirmed that date (Feb 1st) with you?

i emailed him on the 29th for the interview, saying that ill meet him on feb 1st lol but he hasnt responded yet. He told me in earlier emails that he can only do em on a specific day. I dont wanna go past the deadline. So i was wondering if i should email him again. idk maybe hes busy or he hasnyt checked his email?

I would email him again if you don't hear from him soon. Your email could have ended up in his spam box. In the future I would offer people more than one date. For important email use "Request a Read Receipt" option.

I think you hit it on the head - he's not responding because he doesn't want to do it on Super Bowl day - and that's absolutely understandable. So don't pressure him.

If you don't hear back from him by tomorrow (Monday Feb 2nd), send him another email, proposing another date or choice of times/dates.

If you still haven't heard from him by mid-week, ready yourself for a quick, polite phone call to him. If you want.

Bottom line: have PATIENCE, work around HIS schedule, let HIM call the shots, let him set the pace. Don't let him forget about it altogether, but never pester or push him.

And don't worry about the deadline. Instead you should focus on: 1) preparing yourself (knowing as much about Cornell as possible), 2) making him feel as comfortable as possible in the interview.
