Television in room? (Risley Hall)

Hello hello,

I am trying to figure out how one goes about getting a television to work inside Risley Hall. Does anyone know if all rooms are equipped with whatever is necessary to get cable? Do I have to buy a separate box/wires? Do I need any special type of TV? Any information about tv capabilities/quality in Risley Hall would be greatly appreciated :). Thanks a lot.

Hulu just doesn't cut it sometimes : )

Do like me and get a TV Tuner for a computer. It should have an antenna and cable input if you need afterwards.
I've heard that antenna reception is bad, but I doubt that all basic channels are off limits.

does digital tv broadcast improve channel quality? i dont think ithaca has any local channels (they're based out of syracuse) so i dont know about reception...

the DirecTV is ****ing expensive...$100 for a converter box + $50+ a month (depends on package)

I actually lived in Risley last year, not that that makes much of a difference about tv, but anyways, I thought I would really need to have tv access but my roommate and I ended up just wasting a lot of money on it because we rarely watched. It is quite expensive and the bills add up if you forget to cancel your subscription if you find yourself not using it enough. Also, you can get basically any episode of popular shows from dc++/shakespeer fairly quickly after they are aired.

if you're a girl in balch...

i hear about girls having grey's viewing parties...

the only bummer for me is not having instant CNN/FOX NEWS access...i feel a bit sheltered from the real world (although it's both good and bad)
