My D was fortunate enough to hear about her acceptance last night as she was notified about being a finalist for their creative writing scholarship. Good luck to all tonight!!

@elena13 How did your D find out? Was it in the portal? I applied for the same scholarship.

What is transferring to davidson like? do they accept very many or is it incredibly difficult?
  • sunshinemiraclesunshinemiracle Registered User Posts: 122 Junior Member
I heard that they do not accept that many transfers @goblue8721.

I am so worried I am not going to get in and hopefully, I do get in. It is a longshot, but it was worth applying there.

Lol I keep checking my portal to see if decisions released early, but I know at 9:00 it's going to be hard to muster the courage to check

I'm international and asked for a big fin aid package. What do you think about my stats? Do you think I might have a good chance? Davidson is one of my top choices.

    Objective:
    SAT I (breakdown): 1510 (M 800, ERW 710)
    ACT: 33 (R 32 E 31 M 35 S 35)
    SAT II: Math2 800 Physics (major) 780
Unweighted GPA (out of 20): 17.53 (context is important)
    Weighted GPA: N/A
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): within top 2% (7 out of 493)
AP (place score in parenthesis): Not offered
IB (place score in parenthesis): Not offered
Senior Year Course Load: Algebra, Arithmetic, Geometry, Trigonometry, Spanish, Geography, Economics, Literature, Psychology&Philosophy, Mathematical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning (sort of critical thinking), English, Physics, Chemistry, Peruvian History, World History, Reading
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Excellency Scholarship (it's a Peruvian national scholarship to study English in London for a month)

    Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): English, German, and Chinese lessons, basketball player, piano lessons at the National Conservatory of Music, robotics summer course, oratory and leadership lessons, physics and math marathons at my school on Sundays.
Job/Work Experience: Assistant of a lawyer, online tutor
Volunteer/Community service: tutored financially-needy, gifted kids at an NGO. Christmas donations started by my family.
Summer Activities: mostly my langugaes lessons and basketball. Also, I would usually enrolled in a course I may be curious about or would learn something I want.
Essays: I think my extracurricular essay was pretty good, and the why essay was also great. My reading list wasn't that huge, though. It had like 20 books.
    Country: Peru

I think academically, I am fine. Maybe my EC could have been better.

@elena13; Looks like our daughters are interested in similar schools. She visited Davidson and fell in love with the school. She had me change her ED2 at another school to RD because of her visit to Davidson. She is happy at her acceptance to Richmond but is waiting anxiously for Davidson. Definitely two of her top three. Vanderbilt being the third.

Wow @jcwjnw99! Good luck to her. It would be wonderful to have all those to choosd from!

@sunshinemiracle - She was called last night by one of the English professors.
