Hartt School of Music or Ithaca College School of Music

My son was accepted (Early Action) into The Hartt School of Music for Music Production with a concentration in Jazz Studies. He will audition at Ithaca in 10 days so we don't know the outcome of his acceptance yet. At Ithaca he would study Sound Recording Technology with a concentration in Classical Music. Both schools have very strong Music Production/SRT but they differ in that at Ithaca you must study the classical track and it may be more selective as they have fewer spots to fill. My son's passion is jazz however and he would be very willing to study classical as he does have a respect for that genre. Can anyone give insight into how these schools differ in the above-mentioned program ? We have spent time at both schools and will be at Ithaca for a complete day next week.
