I was actually looking forward to getting a 3 on my AP exam...and well...I got a 2. It's my first AP, so yeah, I'm dumb. All I'm seeing now is people all over facebook saying how happy they are getting 4's and 5's in Euro (Yes, I'm that dumb). So, am I the only one here? I'm planning to take more than 1 ap next year, so will I be screwed? I really need to get 4-5's...

Depends on where and whom you ask this question? :D Here, you're probably one of very few people.
But, if you go to Yahoo! Answers and ask, you will feel so much better.

No, you are not screwed. One bad exam score will not kill any of your chances in admissions/taking more exams. Since you self report them on your app, you may decide to not self report your Euro test score. Just keep on going and try your best! Bad AP scores are by no means the worst thing to receive.

I wouldn't submit it if I were you, depending on the school.

You're not screwed because you can always re-take the AP test and still get college credit.

Knowing you received a 2 on an AP test should be beneficial to you, not a detriment. After taking this test, you should think to yourself "Where did I go wrong, where can I improve on the next test?" I would take this as a learning opportunity, after all, the best lessons are from the worst mistakes.

what did you get in the class? That is much more important than your exam score, particularly in the eyes of adcoms.

You accept your score, and resolve to work hard next year.

    Here's a story of hope.

A freshman girl coming into high school, lost, lonely, desolated. She took the AP Human Geography class without knowing what the heck AP means. She took the test, guessed on all questions and essays. Yes, ALL. Got a 1. Even more sadness now. It grew and grew as she kept staring at the piece of paper that partly symbolized her life's mess. As the negative feelings grew, so did her determination. That is the key, determination to get up and to be willing to try again. In the next years of HS, she received all 5 on her AP exams, along with straight A's. Who's that girl? This girl right here.

A 2 isn't going to ruin a thing. Change your study habits. Change your attitude towards a class, a grade, a score. Change what you need to be more successful. And remember, an AP class is an opportunity to learn in depth. Have intrinsic motivation to do well to learn more, to know more, instead of just to earn A's and cram for a quiz or test and forget everything later on.

    Good luck to you!

Thanks guys for all these replies, esp. @deardore that's pretty inspiring haha thx for your story, I'm positive I can do better this coming year..you must have been a very determined person!.. I guess I just didn't study enough :S

But the thing is, can colleges see this 2 at all? Like how will this affect my GPA? Is it basically not even taking the class at all?

Your college won't see a 2 if you don't report it to them. It won't affect your high school GPA (unless there was some rule about adjusting grades according to AP scores; highly unlikely). It won't affect your college GPA, because they won't even accept it for credit. The only thing you'll see on your transcript is your grade in that class at school. That, not your AP score, is the grade that will affect your GPA.

But thanks again CantConcentrate for telling me how these things work because they can be confusing :S

I got a 2 on my first AP also. After that, I got 5s and 4s on all but 2 of them. It teaches you a lesson. Don't worry about it though. AP scores will not be important in the admissions process, and just learn from this. Sometimes a wake-up call is needed. And I know how you feel because after I got a 2, all my friends were celebrating their 4s and 5s also. Well they were mainly celebrating 4s and some were even celebrating 3s lol cause our teacher was pretty bad. But yeah, don't worry about it.
