I have a 2.8 gpa (horrible, I know) but I am a junior so I am hoping to get it up. I play soccer in one of the top 20 clubs in the nation on the "a" team but realistically cant play d1, is there a way I could attend a somewhat good or average school by playing d3 or 2 and having these grades? Would I get any leeway? I'm a good player

Cast a wide net...use the college board site to sift through schools that have your intended major, and your sport and accept students with your GPA and expected test scores. If you have taken the ACT or SAT at least once, start there- if not, gauge from the PSAT>

You can probably find a match.

    Good luck :)

It's all relative, but I personally would consider a 1700 to be the lowest "good" score.

2.8 GPA so what,,,marginal test scores..ok so you don't get into "the school",,,as Charles Dutton says in the movie "Rudy" there are greater tragedies...

you will get into a school and you will probably play soccer your sport if you are wise in the selection process, not everyone is going to end up play in Europe/the US or S.A.--surprise most of those guys don't go to college or high school for that matter. So with that option eliminated you just want to be on a college team and get some PT,,,since your grades have eliminated some of the elite soccer schools look at what you have left--maybe pick a reach and then be realistic---nothing hurts more than being on a team and not playing especially when you know you could be at most any other school and still getting a great education with burdening your parents financially.
