    Hey there.

I am not chinese, yet in the country where I took the test and particularly in my test center around 80% of the 80+ students were chinese.

And it says "scores not yet available"

Also I have a twin who took the SAT with me but his scores are released.

Also one more incident that happened was that the supervisor made a tiny mistake. Instead of giving us 5 - 5- 5 min breaks, he gave us 10 - 5 -5, an extra five minutes in the first break. Also we had 5 less minutes for the second section which was made up for later.

Is this incident holding the scores back (someone complained about it?). I doubt it cause my twin got his scores and I didn't and he took it with me in the same test centre.

Other threads here suggests that scores get flagged for also having a large increase from previous scores. Is this the case for a decrease as well?

It could have something to do with the address submitted by the test taker - the only person from my test centre that received their score had used their US address instead of their Chinese address. But if cheating occurred somewhere, that doesn't make any sense; it's not like the person's address could have affected whether or not they cheated.

My school in korea is requiring me to send in my common app by tonight (midnight) but I am 100% sure that my score improved from my 2 previous tests and I want my best scores to be on my common app. But my counselor says waiting another day will be risky- what should I do???

It sounds like what happened is that scores throughout Korea, China, and possibly other locations in Asia are being held up to allegations of widespread cheating. It sounds like they are holding up just about everyone's scores and have quoted a wait time of up to four weeks.

Thanks for letting us know. This is really unfortunate and unfair. College Board needs to beef up security at test center locations and exercise greater quality control, not punish all students who are from/in a given location.

If the problem is similar to what happened in Korea last year (people obtaining test questions in advance), security at test centers won't help.

Sorry, you are correct, I knew that the breach allegedly occurred because of a leak, but I wrote my message rather quickly and didn't phrase what I said as I should have. CB indeed does need to change the administration in the test so that the answers cannot be leaked ahead of time. Rather than invest the time and money in fixing the underlying problem they are punishing everyone by delaying the release of scores in a way that hurts the majority of students who did not cheat.

Wonder how many students would choose to do ACT instead of SAT afterwards...This widespread delay and cheating will only lead the decline of SAT's popularity. :(

@minio123 -- Absolutely! The College Board is taking the kind of arbitrary action that organizations engage in when they have a monopoly and people have nowhere else to go. The problem is that people do have another place to go and that's why CB is now only the second most popular exam in America. Instead of paying the head of their organization a $1.5 million salary, they could have taken the steps needed to prevent this from happening. It's not important enough to do that, but it's important enough to deprive students of their test scores for a length of time that could adversely affect their chances to get into college.

    I contacted the CB.
They told me my result is delayed because they haven't even checked my answer sheet till now.
It would take 5-7 working days for result to be out.

One of my friends found this method to get your CR and math scores (no writing though):

    http://mp.weixin.qq.com/s?__biz=MzA3NTYzOTIyNA==&mid=201035398&idx=1&sn=9f21fa809656f5426321da2910756629&scene=1&from=singlemessage&isappinstalled=0#rd

Seems to work, but I'm not sure exactly how accurate it is. Better than nothing though.

The Washington Post is now covering the story.

I'm a Chinese test taker. I took the test in Nepal. It's already weird for me to go there for the test(no offence), since most Chinese students would choose HK, Macau, Taiwan or somewhere nearer. But this Oct. test already influenced us a lot before the delay occured. Asia World Expo, where we usually took SAT in HK, had some events so the test there was put off till 25th. In order not to affect our application, most of the Chinese test takers like me, had to choose another country and paid much more for the test, as you can imagine. Though it's centainly nothing to do with CB, I only felt worse after my score got delayed.

There are just no such reasons for CB to do that! Most of us are innocent. And, to be honest, it's really the first time for me to hear that someone could really get the REAL test materials ahead of time. Of course I knew this kind of thing happened before, and I've heard about it a lot that someone RICH enough in China paid like 20,000 RMB or more for such materials. BUT, most turned out to be fake!! And as for the "organizations" mentioned in many news reports, I'd say most of them just used old test materials to help students study for the test.

And such situations occured only because of CB's own problems!! How could test materials be reached? Isn't it because of CB's own leak in security? Or isn't it due to the fact that CB often reused old test materials, and gave the chance for such "organizations" to guess?? And don't you think it's just idiot for CB to make the whole Aisa use the same paper for one test?! Seems like CB simply doesn't understand what time zones mean!! Some cheating tricks appear just because of that! For instance, when test in Korea is over, the test in Dubai maybe hasn't started. CB can't simply blame the test takers but ignore the problems within its FAIR test systems!

I'm already lucky, since I decided not to apply for EA/ED long ago. But I don't see the point why CB held all of our scores. It's the first time for me to take SAT in Oct. and to tell you the truth, in the test center of Nepal where I took the test, there were only no more than 20 Chinese students among a total of about 300(see how few of us went there to take the test...). And during the test, nobody got reported by the supervisors due to cheating or sth. else, at least in my room. You know what, there were at most 5 supervisors in the room at the same time, and there were only 50 students in one room! How could anyone cheated under such circumstances? Probably someone brave enough. So really don't think students as someone with superpower and could do anything during the test. MOST ARE INNOCENT!!!

And I really want to ask, how could you know if someone really cheated just judging from his or her scores or LOCATION?! Is CB psychic??

Sorry for so many complaints...I'm just extremely angry about what is written in the news: "Tom Ewing, a spokesman for the Educational Testing Service, said scores were being withheld based on the nations where students lived, not where they took the exam."

WHERE THEY LIVED. Tell me it's not racist? I don't believe it.

This whole situation just goes on to prove one more time how incredibly flawed CB's practices are. Instead of taking the necessary measures beforehand, they chose to create this mess for so many innocent students.

How exactly are they going to find out who cheated or not now that the testing is already done?

After reading and hearing so many stories about people who cheated on the SAT, I can't help but wonder if CB is oblivious to these facts? Do they know how easy it is to break their rules (especially in a foreign country)? Do they really trust ALL the proctors they hire?
I feel that they do not put too much effort into making sure that the process is handled well, especially in countries so far away.

Why are they choosing to address these issues so late ?

I wish that colleges would realize that when they are reviewing someones scores they might be looking at a complete lie.

I wish that more colleges would realize that CB is not so holly and its practices are far from being transparent and fair to all students.

About the method, have any try it out and find their scores. Well, I think my score is kind of too low and is not really possible. Well, have anyone check it out? And have anyone think the method is accurate because I am worry that the delay can even mess up the scores too.

    Hey there

I am from Sri Lanka. I have taken the A levels offered by Edexcel UK and I know how very different these tests are administered from that of the SAT.

Edexcel papers also reuse aspects of questions of the past but this is simply unpredictable and is done to encourage past paper discussions so that knowledge obtained from pastpaper discussion would actually help to increase scores.

Also the timing of exams were very much differently designed. Unlike the SAT which has the standard 8 am on a saturday morning thing. For example I took some papers on 2:00 pm local time...people in UK took the same exam at 9:30 am their time and a friend in Texas took them on 1:30 am his local time.

I'm not very well aware of how to cheat on the SAT by exploiting time difference but what I'm aware is how easy it is to cheat on a testing center.
    For example:

    1. You must have noticed that the sections on the SAT aren't the same for all the SAT test booklets in a test centre. It's just jumbled so that if you are taking a maths section, the person next to you might be taking the reading section. So you could exploit this. You could memorise the answers you gridded in (or the last 5 hardest ones) and then duriing the break you could have these types of convos with your friend (in the toilet area or something)

Amy : Hey buddy!!... was the last section for a reading one having a passage on sky scrapers?
Bill : Nope. Not that one. I had a maths section...I think that would come for me later.
Amy : ah! Just remember the the last few answers are A, B , D, D , C, D, A backwards for the skyscraper passage okay?
    Bill : Thanks!

Convo that could have happened in the next break:

Bill : How did it go?
Amy : It went bad, The maths question about the group thingy....how do you do that?!
    Bill : UH..the answer was D!
    Amy: Thanks..I'll grid it in

    2. If you want to take the cheating to the extreme, Then after finishing a reading section...store all the answers on your calculator (the supervisors get confused whether your allowed to use a CAL or not cause different students work on different types of section at the same time (your friend might be doing a reading section when you're doing maths and viceversa). Then later during the break exchange your calculator with a friend saying "answers on list A are the answers for the maths section having that species graph thing".

So you could easily take your friend's answers are compare them with yours during the test.

So you see, cheating in the SAT is so easy! Like heck!

Am only saying this to give an impression of how easy it was to cheat at my test centre. I am morally sound to keep away from cheating anyway.

    @‌CamelDude

That method doesn't work for me.

It just says "Your projected or actual SAT scores were not available for this search." in "Academic Selectivity"

Also, isn't that the tests are slightly different from every book (the order of question and question order)? It is how intriguing that there are hackers somehow manage to hack and to leak the intel. Seriously, Collegeboard needs to be more careful on the accuracy of their material. Last time, I could not take my Ap Chinese due to CD malfunction, not to mention, TWICE in a row.
