I have a day student at LA. She often wants to stay on campus for weekend activities.

The football scandal was under the old Head of School. Dan Scheibe, the Head since 2012 came from Middlesex, where he was the Assistant Head. According to the school's hiring announcement, "Dan spent his secondary schooling years at Taft, did his undergraduate work in Literature at Yale, obtained a Masters of Divinity from Princeton”s Theological Seminary and a Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University." I'm a big fan of Dan and I know he is both well liked by the students at LA and was a popular teacher when he was at MX.

@buuzn03 They have a newer restaurant in Acton, too, although I haven't been to it.

This is a great Groton restaurant. Reservations are a must most of the time. https://www.gibbethillgrill.com/

Both filohs and gibbit Hill are worth the visit!!! And if you love gibbit Hill, their sister restaurant, Bancroft, in Burlington is worth the visit too!!
LA has changed for the positive a lot in the past few years.

Concord and Middlesex are in that sweet spot between Gibbit Hill and The Bancroft. Much better setting at Gibbit Hill, but larger menu at Bancroft.

We are going up next week to watch DS play against Lawrence...I'm making reservations for Filhos after the game...can we dress casual???
  • doschicosdoschicos Registered User Posts: 17,902 Senior Member
Yes. The Groton, MA Filhos is VERY casual. Unless it has changed, you order at the counter and grab a seat. Not sure they even take reservations.

Thanks @doschicos ! I thought someone had told me to try and make reservations but maybe I misunderstood!

@buuzn03 -I can definitely give you the restaurant recommendations near St. Mark's. We used to joke about how bad the restaurants are here, but lots of new stuff has opened that has made my small town right near St. Marks a "hot dining destination".
